Our verdict: Candy AI is worth considering for adults who want fictional character chat and optional generated media in one hosted service. Premium's clearest documented benefit is unlimited text messaging, not unlimited images or videos. The decision turns on whether you enjoy the character format, accept the data practices and can keep media spending within a separate budget. It is not a replacement for real dating, confidential counseling or a local chatbot.
What Candy AI actually offers
Candy AI combines a catalog of fictional companions with a character builder, chat and media features. The service's terms describe text exchanges, on-demand AI media and purchases of pre-made media. That distinction matters: a photo or clip on a character profile is not evidence that a particular prompt will generate that result. Nor does an attractive profile demonstrate persistent memory, emotional understanding or a real person behind the chat.
The public subscription screen lists custom companions, image and video generation, unlimited text messages and 100 tokens per month. Those are advertised entitlements; they are not results of our own paid performance testing. The terms also allow features and characters to change or disappear. Buy for a service you can use now, rather than for a promise that one favorite character or future capability will remain indefinitely.
A hosted interface avoids managing local models, but transfers control over processing and availability to the provider. US pricing: payment today versus the headline monthly rate
These USD figures were displayed publicly on October 21, 2026. The official subscriptions page is the primary pricing source. Promotions, account eligibility, payment methods and regional displays can vary; additional local taxes may apply. Your final checkout determines the amount and renewal terms you accept.

Do not compare $3.99 with $9.99 as if both were monthly cancel-and-pay arrangements. Canceling an annual subscription stops a later renewal; it does not convert the year already purchased into a one-month bill. The terms allow price changes with advance notice before renewal at an increased price, so keep the actual purchase confirmation rather than relying on this table a year later.
The monthly introductory rate also creates an easy budgeting error. Three consecutive monthly periods at the observed rates total $37.97 before taxes and extras: $9.99 plus two renewals of $13.99. The quarterly option is $26.97 for that commitment. The difference is meaningful only if you genuinely want three months; a cheaper average is not savings when you stop using the service after a week.

What the free account can and cannot tell you
The current official free-user help article says up to five chat messages across all characters, one custom AI character and one generated image. The terms likewise describe generally a maximum of five messages before a subscription is required. Neither source describes five messages per day or an unlimited permanent chat tier.
That small allowance can reveal whether the layout, character choices and initial tone appeal to you. It cannot establish how well a character maintains details across weeks, whether a long story stays coherent, or what proportion of paid images you would keep. A free sample is useful but narrow evidence. This is why we do not give Candy AI a measured memory score or promise a seven-day Premium trial.

Unlimited text is not an unlimited media budget
The paid messaging system is described as unlimited, while 100 tokens are supplied monthly for extended features. The payments section of the terms names examples such as image generation and voice notes. The subscription page also advertises video tools. Feature access and consumable allowance are separate: access to a generator does not mean every use is covered without limit.
We do not have a verified universal price per image, video or voice action. Costs can depend on the feature and the account's current interface. Assigning a fixed “images per month” count from the subscription page alone would be invented precision. Instead, use the token price displayed immediately before an action and decide whether the expected result is worth that amount.

A workable approach is to treat the subscription as your access cost and set a separate maximum for optional purchases. If you do not want add-on spending, stop token-consuming activity when the included balance is exhausted and continue with included text if your subscription remains active. Do not assume an unsatisfactory output is automatically free or refundable; inspect the applicable rule before generating again.

For light, recurring text entertainment, the documented structure is relatively clear: a recurring access payment and unlimited messaging. For a media-first buyer, the subscription total is only the beginning of the value calculation. For someone who needs a confidant with guaranteed recollection, this review cannot establish the required performance. More features do not remove that uncertainty.
Roleplay is also subject to policies. The terms describe moderation that can alter requests or reject prohibited content. “Adult” does not mean unrestricted, and generated promises about meetings or real-world outcomes are fictional. Keep the experience in the entertainment category, with time and spending boundaries that would still feel reasonable if the character's tone changes.
Privacy: private from other users is not private from the provider
The Privacy Notice revised October 19, 2026 describes processing of account details, technical information, preferences, prompts and generated responses. It also describes service improvement and AI development using aggregated, anonymized or de-identified interactions, including potential human review in dataset preparation. Quality assurance and safety processing have their own descriptions. This is not a no-processing or zero-retention service.
The disclosure section says third-party LLM providers or hosters may receive the content of messages. Separately, the terms allow manual review of content flagged by moderation controls and associated account content. We have not audited the implementation, encryption or access controls. A reassuring visual design or the word “private” should not be read as end-to-end confidentiality.
Retention is more nuanced than “delete the account and everything vanishes.” The notice generally lists account data for three years after last activity, with an operational shortening provision, or deletion without undue delay after a deletion request for account data. Financial and transaction data are generally retained for ten years, and legal exceptions can apply. Cancellation of billing is not a deletion request.
Avoid uploading identifying photos or entering addresses, passwords, financial details and another person's private information into chat. If you need erasure or access, follow the current notice's contact process and keep the response. Canceling, refunds and unused tokens
According to section 10.1, subscription details are in My Profile / Settings and cancellation is available through Settings / Unsubscribe. Access continues until the current billing period ends, with no charge for the subsequent period after cancellation. Save the confirmation and check the displayed end date; we have not performed an account cancellation ourselves.
Under section 10.2, remaining subscription tokens become unusable at the end of the current billing period when the subscription ends. They do not carry into a later resubscription. Do not confuse this stated end-of-subscription rule with an independently verified rollover rule for every active account or separate token product.
The US-facing general subscription/non-token refund policy is narrow: request within 24 hours after payment; a request is denied if more than 20 tokens have been used, regardless of timing; subscriptions can only be refunded when purchased by card. User-side technical issues are excluded. Separate token-package rules require a request within 24 hours, deny a refund once tokens have been used, and also specify card purchases. These are eligibility restrictions, not a promise that every qualifying request will be granted.
EU/UK users have a separate initial-purchase withdrawal section with a 14-day period and a deduction reflecting services consumed; it does not apply to renewal periods. Reasons to shortlist Candy — and reasons to pass
The case for Candy: one hosted account brings character creation, text and media tools together, while the public screen gives concrete payment amounts and a monthly token allowance. A text-oriented adult can understand the base subscription without needing to manage local software. You can consider a short paid commitment before taking on an annual one.
The case against: the free chat allowance is very small, the lowest advertised monthly equivalent requires an upfront year, media use needs separate budgeting, and the privacy terms permit processing that a highly confidentiality-conscious user may reject. We also cannot substantiate superiority in dialogue, voice realism or memory. Those are reasons to compare, not gaps to cover with invented star ratings.

Is the $3.99 annual rate billed monthly?
No. The observed annual payment is $47.88 upfront. The $3.99 figure is a monthly equivalent used to express that annual cost.
Does Premium include unlimited images?
No such entitlement was established. The public plan shows unlimited text and 100 monthly tokens. Extended media actions can draw on tokens, with prices to confirm in the interface.
Does deleting the browser app cancel billing?
The stated cancellation method is Settings / Unsubscribe, not removing a bookmark or home-screen shortcut. Verify cancellation and the subscription end date in the account.
Can a companion really meet me?
No. The terms expressly describe exchanges and characters as fictional, including any offers of real-life meetings or tangible outcomes.
Bottom line for a US buyer
Candy AI makes the strongest documented case as paid fictional chat with optional visual entertainment, not as a free ongoing companion or an all-inclusive media subscription. Choose the commitment you would still accept after the novelty fades, allow separately for tokens and taxes, and decide whether the privacy terms suit the information you intend to share. Skip it if you need guaranteed memory, confidential support or a fixed unlimited-media bill.
